Start by pressing the reset in the back of the unit for 10+ seconds with a paperclip, then momentarily pull the power plug. Cycle power on the modem, then plug in the router. Make sure you have the modem to router cable plugged into the correct port. The internet connection light on the router should start to pulse at a set rate after it gets an IP address. You can then plug in your computer to the router port and select repair by right clicking on the taskbar icon. You may need to open IE and go to Tools/Internet Options/Communications or Connections and at the top right run the setup. Select as a computer with direct connection. After that you should be able to get on line. Go to the Linksys site and in the support section for your device it will assist you in setting up security and changing the login password.

Set the router to use DHCP for both sides. Incoming and outgoing.

Disconnect the power cord or turn the power switch to off on the cable modem. Wait 30-45 seconds. Make sure the router is on during this time. Plug the cable modem back in or turn it back on.
